Frequently Asked Questions
Sheryl answers some of the commonly asked questions about hypnotherapy...
What is hypnosis?
You are in a true state of hypnosis at least twice a day – when you drift into sleep, and when you drift out of sleep.
Hypnosis is a very natural state in which the body is very relaxed, but you are aware of your surroundings – and your subconscious mind is receptive to positive suggestion!
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and therapy.
I use talking therapy (counselling) to help you work through and understand your particular issue – and then the relevant therapeutic suggestions are delivered to your subconscious mind while you are in hypnosis!
What does being in hypnosis feel like?
You will simply have your eyes closed, and feel nice and relaxed!
You may feel heavy, numb or even tingly – but you will be very aware of your surroundings. You are NOT unconscious – or asleep!
Can I be hypnotised?
If you want to be - you certainly can be.
Will it make me do things I don’t want to do?
Absolutely not! When in the state of hypnosis, you cannot be made to do anything that is against your will – your values, or beliefs!
You are in control at all times.
Are there any guarantees it will work?
Just like any treatment – medical or complimentary – there are no guarantees.
If you want to change something in your life – and you have made a definite decision to do so – then hypnotherapy can be an effective way to bring your conscious mind and subconscious mind into alignment!
Is this confidential?
Absolutely! What we discuss in our sessions is completely confidential.
